Speech and drafts
Speech recognition uses Apple’s on-device English speech technology on supported iPhones. Microphone audio is processed in memory. The app does not create audio recordings or transcript files, and we do not receive your audio or dictation text on a developer-operated server.
Drafts for your paired Macs remain in the iPhone app’s memory. They do not survive the app terminating. Apple’s speech components may need an initial model download.
Sending to your Mac
When you send, the app sends the draft text to your selected, paired Mac over an encrypted connection on the local network. The Mac companion copies that text to the system clipboard and pastes it into the destination field when possible.
The receiving application, the operating system, and any clipboard synchronization or clipboard-history tools have their own data handling and retention. Sending text to an online service through another app is subject to that service’s policies.
What stays on your devices
Your preferences and paired-machine information are stored locally. Pairing credentials use the device Keychain; Keychain items may remain after an app is uninstalled.
The Mac companion keeps local delivery receipts and diagnostics to help prevent duplicate deliveries and diagnose failures. These can include session identifiers, timestamps, completion status, errors, application identifiers, and focus or Accessibility metadata. They do not contain dictation text. The app does not send these records to a developer analytics service.
Permissions
- Microphone: captures speech on the iPhone while dictating.
- Camera: scans the Mac’s pairing QR code.
- Face ID: authorizes opening the pairing scanner. The app uses Apple’s authentication result; it does not receive your facial biometric data.
- Local Network: allows communication between the paired phone and Mac.
- Accessibility on Mac: allows the companion to paste and, when appropriate, press Return in the destination app.
The Mac companion does not require microphone or Screen Recording permission.
Accounts and tracking
The app does not require an account and includes no advertising, tracking SDKs, or developer analytics service.
The early-access list
If you join the website’s early-access list, we store your email address, your optional first name, your consent to launch and offer emails, and the time of your signup. Our website hosting provider stores this information on our behalf. It is separate from the app: signing up does not give us access to your audio, drafts, or dictation text.
We use this information to manage the first-1,000 offer and send launch and redemption details. We do not sell it or use it for unrelated marketing. Joining is optional and does not create an app account or a paid subscription. We keep the signup information while administering the launch and offer, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. We also use short-lived, hashed request identifiers to limit spam and repeated requests.
To leave the list or request deletion, email info@mobilinq.com from the address you used to sign up. Deleting a signup also cancels its reservation.
This website and support email
This website does not embed advertising, analytics scripts, or third-party fonts. Its hosting infrastructure may process technical request information, such as IP addresses and browser details, to deliver and protect the site.
If you email support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include, and use it to respond to your request. Please avoid sending private dictation content. For questions about information you have sent us, contact info@mobilinq.com.
Your choices
You control when to capture speech and when to send a draft. You can pause, clear a draft, change sending preferences, or revoke permissions in system settings. Fully quit the iPhone app to discard all drafts held in its memory.
For privacy questions or requests relating to early-access signups or support correspondence, email info@mobilinq.com.
