GET CONNECTED

Three steps
to your first send.

  1. Open the Mac companion.

Once installed, allow Accessibility access so it can paste text into the field you’re using. Choose “Pair Phone” in its menu bar.

  2. Pair your iPhone.

Join the same local network. On the iPhone, go to the add-Mac page and tap the plus button. Complete Face ID, allow Camera access, and scan the fresh QR code.

  3. Choose a field. Say something.

Click the destination text field on your Mac, then tap the large microphone button on your iPhone. Speak, check your draft, and double-tap the transcript to send.

A FEW SIMPLE MOVES

IF SOMETHING GETS IN THE WAY

Good questions.

The QR code won’t pair.

Generate a fresh code from “Pair Phone” on the Mac and scan it promptly. Keep both devices on the same local network. Make sure Face ID is enrolled and Camera and Local Network access are allowed for the iPhone app.

Guest Wi-Fi can isolate devices from each other. A VPN or firewall may also prevent the phone from reaching the Mac.

I can see my words, but they aren’t appearing on the Mac.

Check the Mac name in your recording session. Click the destination text field on that Mac, then check the companion’s Accessibility permission in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.

If delivery is uncertain, check the Mac before sending the same draft again. This helps avoid duplicate text.

Can I choose when it sends?

Yes. Double-tap to send manually, or open the settings gear to enable your own stop phrase or a silence timer of 2, 3, 5, or 10 seconds. The countdown bar shows when an automatic send is approaching.

Tap the auto-send area at the bottom to toggle the timer without changing its duration. Manual sending remains available.

Does it always press Return?

The Mac companion attempts Return when it can verify focus. The receiving app decides whether Return submits the text or inserts a new line. Some applications or fields may require you to submit manually.

Where are my drafts and recordings saved?

The app doesn’t create audio recordings or transcript files. Per-Mac drafts stay in the iPhone app’s memory and disappear when the app terminates. After sending, text is on your Mac’s clipboard and in the receiving app; those systems control its retention.

Can I paste something into a draft?

Yes. Use the paste control at the upper left of a recording session to add text from the iPhone clipboard to that Mac’s current draft.

Which devices and languages are supported?

The app currently supports English on compatible iPhones running iOS 26 or later with Face ID enrolled. The companion requires an Apple-silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later. Both devices must share a local network, and the phone app must stay in the foreground.
